Counseling for couples at a crossroads.

Discernment Counseling

Are you on the brink?

Couple sitting on a sofa, looking distant and thoughtful, with large windows in the background.

Ben guides couples through:
✔ Deciding whether to restore the relationship, move toward divorce, or take time to reflect
✔ Gaining clarity and confidence about what’s possible
✔ Understanding relationship patterns and individual contributions

While sessions begin together, the deepest work happens in private one-on-one conversations, allowing both partners to explore their perspectives openly.

If you or your partner are considering separation or divorce but feel uncertain, Discernment Counseling offers a structured way to slow down, reflect, and explore your options.

This approach is ideal when one partner is leaning out—unsure if marriage counseling would help—while the other is leaning in, hoping to rebuild the relationship. Whether married or in a committed partnership, this process helps clarify the future of your relationship without pressure or judgment.

Find clarity. Discover possibilities.

Structure of Discernment Counseling:

  • One to five sessions, starting with a two-hour initial meeting, followed by 1.5 hour follow-ups

  • Online and in-person sessions available

Discernment Counseling is not suited for:

  • Situations where one partner has already decided to divorce

  • Cases involving coercion or pressure to participate

  • Relationships where domestic violence is a concern

If you’re at a crossroads, Discernment Counseling provides the clarity you need to make the best decision for your future.
